Purpose

This module was developed to allow anonymous log in for members to a portal. This log in allows dealers, distributors or external members of a site (extranet) to gain restricted access to specific areas of your site. Each member can be welcomed to their specific area of the site (whether it be region specific or product line specific). Different options per member can also be controlled, giving more access to owners, and limited access to service technicians, for an example.

Description

This tool allows for external members of a site to welcomed to a log in screen. A username and password is required to gain access. During log in, the username and password is validated against the members module, re-directing the user to the appropriate Audience Type of the portal.

For an example...If a manufacturer offers content to its dealers, within multiple regions (or within specific product offerings based on each dealers type) this tool will allow all dealers to be greeted equally at the homepage of the site; re-directing them to the appropriate regional site of which they will have unrestricted access.

How To Use

The link to anonymous log in can be found within Reference URLs. This link can be managed anywhere within your site, but is often used as the Homepage. To utilize this as the homepage of a site, simply go to the Homepage Stylesheet, and paste the link as the homepage re-direct. The next time you visit that site, it will require username and password validation before granting anyone to the site.

The individual re-direct for each member of your portal, comes from the members module itself. Within the member record for each user, you can assign which site or audience type they belong to...granting them access to only that site and the records within it. You can additionally serve different site navigation options within these different sites to each member, giving access to owners, managers, service technicians, and even local advertising agencies.
