Purpose

This module is intended to support 'many' different designs, whether it be many designs for one site (to be used or changed throughout the year), or perhaps a library of available colors to be used for Audience Types and Site (Channel sites within your portal). Records here also populate the Site Wizard, for anyone (on your staff or members of your site) interested in creating their own website.....whereas they may pull from these records as 'color options' to be used (or re-used) for their own site.

Description

This module allows you to manage individual records which represent color schemas that the sites use for certain areas of real estate within your layout. These would include: Left Bar, Right Bar, Center window, Nav Bar, Bottom Bar, and all elements of Site Navigation. Many features such as background colors, rollover colors, Nav Item colors (1st tier and 2nd tier) whether links appear or not, the color of the visited link, and even the background of the site are managed within this module.

This module, in unison with other design modules (Site Images, Stylehseets, Splash Page, Module Font Settings, Rotating Images, RSS Consumers, Section Headers, Site Navigation and Module Headers) allow users to dynamically manage ALL aspects of their site design.

The basic design framework of the Centralpoint© ME2 is reflected by the diagram below. This framework may seem rigid, at first glance, but with the proper knowledge of how to manage the design modules available within Centralpoint© it can empower you to accomplish virtually any conceivable design.

Newly created Client Sites (created from the CPMMC), or Audience Types and Sites created from individual Clients will look as good as you would like them to, based on:

How To Use

Click on the Design tab within your Client Console, and either click on the record you would like to manage (as there will always be at least one record here for the client site) or add a new one.

Using the color selectors for each field, simply select the colors that you would like to appear for each area of real estate within the layout of your site. Select the appropriate Audience Type or Site that you would like these colors applied to, and hit submit. Your colors will be applied.

Tips About This Module

Note: Caching is sometimes applied to color schemas within your site (and to other values that tend to re-load often for your audience type). This setting is set to a one hour period, to allow these values to only load once per hour. If you have recently set up new colors, and have applied it to a site correctly, and do not see certain colors appear on your site, simply wait one hour, and refresh the page....your colors will appear within the site.

A key note for this module pivots on whether the Site Image and Color Source Control of your site (Default setting is 02), meaning that you control the colors of your site 'from' this module vs. 'from' the Audience Type or Site record, or not. See Site Property entitled Site Image and Color  Source Control', which allows you to toggle control 'from' the Color Schemas record, or 'from' the Site or Audience Type record. This is done as some clients want to be able to select from a gallery of colors, in which case it is best to pull from Site or Audience Type. For most clients, it is best to control colors from the Color Schemas record itself, pointing 'to' the site you want to change. This is why this site property exists, to keep up with the needs of all users.
