Purpose

This module was developed to allow specific IP Addresses and IP ranges to be blocked from your Centralpoint site or portal. This tool gives you the ability to name specific IP addresses (or IP Ranges) to prevent access to your site, including the ability to serve custom messages to those specific users.

Description

This administration module lets you block unwelcome visitors to your website. Whether these users represent competitors to your business, or spidering tools which might frequent your site. IP Blocker lets you identify as many unwelcome users as you want, serving a unique message to each when they attempt to access your Centralpoint site or portal.

You can even take advantage of the data import tool, allowing you to import bulk lists found on published 'blacklists' to ensure that undesirable site traffickers do not make it to your site...protecting your content

Tips About This Module

To find an IP address of a particular company that you would like to block from your site, simply visit http://ws.arin.net/cgi-bin/whois.pl or anyone of many sites dedicated to Reverse DNS or URL look up. This will provide you with the IP ranges of companies that you may want to block from your site.

Additional Information

This module will also allow you to prevent access of specific IP (or IP ranges) from only Audience Types or Sites. This means that the IP block does not need to be effective for the entire family of sites within the portal, but may be for select audience types or sites within the portal.
